The top 7 Outdoor Kitchens of 2022

As the sun sets on 2022, we’ve been reflecting on the past 12 months. In the face of global uncertainty, it’s been a good year for Grillo. Without a doubt.

You’ve emphasised to us how outdoor living is a necessity in our homes, bringing the inside out, and the important role that food, fire, and friends plays in our lives whatever the outward conditions.

The guides we created for you on What BBQs should I include in my outdoor kitchen, Small outdoor kitchen ideas and 11 best outdoor kitchens have been a huge success, and the launch of our eagerly anticipated 3D configurator was highlighted by ProLandscaper, who included a great write up about it in their industry leading magazine.

But what we want to share with you here are the top 7 outdoor kitchens of 2022 picked for their outdoor living impact, sleek designs, how they have been set in the context of the project by the garden designers and more.

#7 Cambridge, Cambs

An impressive and practical urban garden in central Cambridge by Sylvia Newman Garden Design. Designed to be used year round, this multi use garden features a lawn, tasteful plantings including pleached trees, an undercover louvred dining area, a substantial indoor swimming pool behind bi fold doors, lilac rabbits, and a compact outdoor kitchen with grill and fridge. Make that a ‘compact, yet mighty’ outdoor kitchen; the grill is a Bull, and has reportedly already been used for steaks, sweetcorn, prawns, burgers, brisket, and roast potatoes. Memories are created here!

#6 Tiddington, Stratford Upon Avon

“A pretty plot, well chosen to build upon!” So commented a local playwright, and whilst it’s unlikely he was referring to this plot, he may as well have been. The village of Tiddington is just outside Stratford upon Avon, and this ‘pretty plot’ backs onto the Avon itself. The garden has been finished to an uncommonly high standard by Bidford Landscapes, and can perhaps be best described as enviable.

#5 Elizabeth Tower, Manchester

Nothing says modern day living more than a BBQ in the sky. Sitting atop a new tower block in central Manchester, this kitchen has a fine view out across the city, with its interesting mix of modern high rise developments and repurposed Victorian industrial architecture. In the distance behind the kitchen Holcombe Moor and Blackstone Edge dominate the horizon, and on a clear day, Kinder Scout beckons. One can think of few better places to spend a long Friday evening; authentic wood fired pizza from the Delivita oven, a glass of wine in hand, the flickering flames fusing with winking city lights.

#4 Ashtead, Surrey

Immaculate. Peerless. Classy. They must have a gardener. These are a few of the things that spring to mind when viewing this magnificent project in Ashtead, Surrey. Delightful plantings, a flawless patio, a towering arboreal backdrop, a lawn that would put many a bowling green to shame, having somehow survived the Great Drought of ’22; this garden is one to covet. In amongst the assorted amenities available is a Grillo outdoor kitchen, and the cherry atop the cake is the Chef’s Anvil. Many an admiring guest will be drawn into it’s alluring warmth and captivating theatre. Project by Accuro Residential and garden by Chloe Luxon Garden Design.
