Outdoor kitchen project in Elmbridge, Surrey
Our client was designing a garden for an extensive home renovation in Elmbridge, Surrey. The house is period style but with contemporary features, and the grounds and surroundings established, with mature trees and plantings. An outdoor kitchen was required that would visually complement both the old and the new, would contain a specific selection of cooking appliances whilst conforming to the area provided, and would not obstruct views of the gardens from the rear of the house.
Garden Design by Rae Wilkinson, raewilkinson.com.
“We just went through a major house build and it was such a relief to deal with a contractor that was helpful, flexible and did things exactly when they said they would, and went the extra mile on client service. The end product looks so much better than the brochure. I cannot recommend them highly enough.”
Design and style
The outdoor kitchen was to fit along the side of the patio under a custom-built steel ‘pergola’. The homeowner wanted a gas grill, Primo kamado barbecue, pizza oven and sink, but did not want the kitchen to block views of the garden. We achieved this by designing a small return incorporating the Primo barbeque, with flush iroko back allowing unobstructed views of the landscaping beyond.
The kitchen’s beautiful yet neutral design ensured it blended perfectly into the surroundings; the clean lines working with the contemporary renovations and hard landscaping, the timber uprights complementing the house’s period features and wood-effect porcelain patio, the planters blending the hard edges of the kitchen back into the borders behind.
