outdoor living trends for 2025
This is Grillo’s take on outdoor living trends expected in 2025. We are not garden designers, we are not landscapers, but we do see a lot of gardens and speak to a lot of homeowners.
So here are our thoughts. From an outdoor kitchen and bars company, to outdoor living lovers everywhere. Our top 10 from garden and home publications and our predictions on trends of the year. The outdoor living industry is forecast to grow in 2025, so let’s make it a good one!
1. GARDEN BARS
Garden bars continue to reign supreme in 2025. Socialising under the open sky remains top priority, and garden bars are evolving into more inclusive spaces for socialising.

2. DO IT AL FRESCO
Outdoor kitchens are firmly rooted in 2025 as the heart of alfresco living. Combine a timeless kitchen design with marine-grade materials for the best aesthetic longevity. For the most versatile setups, include outdoor fridges and multiple cooking options, such as grills, pizza ovens, and side burners. Outdoor kitchens offer a space to connect and celebrate.

3. COPPER WATER FEATURES
Water features are much-loved, bringing movement and sound to the garden. Copper and rust tones are gaining popularity, adding a contemporary edge that blends well with natural surroundings.

4. RELAXATION SPACES
The pursuit of relaxation is a key consideration for garden design. Respite from daily life, endless social media scrolls and endless to-do lists. These are spaces where you pick up a novel, have a snooze, or just enjoy a midday mimosa.

5. EDIBLE GARDENS
Edible gardens are an old phenomenon, more than just a trend. This regained movement combines earthy aesthetics with functionality, allowing homeowners to cultivate their food with feel-good gardening. Garden designer, Lottie Delamain, claims an inextricable link between gardening and happiness.

6. CURATED LIGHTING
As the sun dips below the horizon and twilight begins to settle, lighting warms the atmosphere. Curated lighting can transform the evening into something special. A flickering flame or bulb lights strung up like stars, lighting is your silent host, setting the stage for good times.

7. LOW MANTENANCE
Low-maintenance elements, without the burden of extensive upkeep. The value of simplicity.
Let the Royal Horticultural Society tell you how it’s done:

8. PLANTS. PLANTS. PLANTS.
Beautiful greenery adds movement to outdoor spaces. Trees and hedging make the biggest impact, Olive and Birch trees offering muted tones, Red Robins providing bursts of color and Cherry Laurel for staple vibrant greens.

9. ORGANIC TONES
Organic materials and raw nautural touches bring your garden authenticity and refinement. Think terracottas, neutral stones and hints of wood.

10. GARDEN ROOMS
Garden rooms are personalised sanctuaries. Where relaxation and functionality intertwine to create cosy workspaces, bars, saunas and gyms.

IN SUMMARY
It’s always great to share ideas, but you are the artist, and your garden is your canvas. Your garden, your rules – let the trends be your inspiration, but the decision is undeniably, unmistakably, and beautifully yours. Happy gardening!
